PROJECT GOALS

Our first and most significant goal for this project is to develop a competitive first class business meeting and conference center for our community.
As a competitive facility, provide a complete range of facilities, amenities, technology, and support services needed now and in the future by our perspective clients.
Develop a partnership with the hospitality industry, the local and regional business community, local government, business, and economic development organizations, and the like, in order to market this business meeting and conference center and our community, in order to attract business meetings and conferences to Butte.
Develop an ongoing and increasing revenue stream for the Butte Center for the Performing Arts, Inc., and Masonic Temple Association, in order that the magnificent buildings operated by these two organizations, can continue to be operated, and can undergo continued restoration and upgrading, to insure their continued service to and place in our community.

Project Overview
| Business Systems | Telecommunications Technology
Updated, June 25, 2006

A key factor in the ultimate success and competitive ability of this type of facility to attract business conferences and meetings is its implementation of state-of-the-art business networking and telecommunications technologies, including the interconnection with data, video and voice networks worldwide and the connection and/or access to these networks from anywhere with in the Center.  Recognizing the absolute need for this advanced telecommunications technology, the Center’s technology partner, Advanced Wireless Technologies, Inc. has developed a technology plan for the Center, as follows:

  • Technology Plan - Phase 1:  (completed)

    • Design and install a digital high speed IP (Internet Protocol) based telecommunications link, connecting the Center with the Butte Data Center and numerous international backbone networks.  This network is designed to be video, audio and voice over IP enabled, with QoS packet prioritization.

    • Interconnect the high speed digital network with various key areas of the Mother Lode Theatre building, including the business offices of both the Mother Lode and Orphan Girl Theatres; Mother Lode Theatre presentation stage areas; and other key termination points.

    • Construct public access WiFi networks covering Mother Lode entry lobby areas, office areas, green rooms, dressing rooms and all backstage production areas.

    • Construct a public access WiFi network covering the Mother Lode Auditorium, to be activated only during business conference meetings and presentations.

  • Technology Plan – Phase 2:  (completed)

    • Design and install a private IP based wireless interconnect network to interconnect various area hospitality and other locations, interconnecting them to data, video and audio conferencing facilities, for use in partnership with the Center.

    • Design and install emergency power facilities to power Mother Lode building located digital microwave facilities, wireless head-end systems, and on-site network termination points.

  • Technology Plan – Phase 3:  (in process)

    • Register, integrate, and test Center’s Video/Audio Conference Network and associated conference hardware with all major national conference networks, including but not limited to AT&T, Sprint, SBC, Qwest, Bell South, Vonage, FedEx-Kinkos, Verizon.

    • Design the wired and WiFi network plan for extending IP network access facilities to the various Masonic Temple facilities.

    • Design Voice over IP Telephone (VoIP) facilities for the Center business offices, public interconnect-access areas and integrated WiFi for voice enabled PDAs and portable telephone facilities, used by conference attendees.

    • Develop plan for extending VoIP facilities to hospitality partner sites.

  • Technology Plan – Phase 4:

    • Acquire portable Video, Audio conferencing hardware, projection equipment and the like for use in multiple locations through out the Center and at hospitality partner locations.

    • Integrate digital High Definition Video termination hardware for use with Theatre based virtual events in conjunction with national entertainment networks.
