PROJECT GOALS

Our first and most significant goal for this project is to develop a competitive first class business meeting and conference center for our community.
As a competitive facility, provide a complete range of facilities, amenities, technology, and support services needed now and in the future by our perspective clients.
Develop a partnership with the hospitality industry, the local and regional business community, local government, business, and economic development organizations, and the like, in order to market this business meeting and conference center and our community, in order to attract business meetings and conferences to Butte.
Develop an ongoing and increasing revenue stream for the Butte Center for the Performing Arts, Inc., and Masonic Temple Association, in order that the magnificent buildings operated by these two organizations, can continue to be operated, and can undergo continued restoration and upgrading, to insure their continued service to and place in our community.

Project Overview | Physical Facilities |
Updated, June 25, 2006

The Consolidated Business Meeting and Conference Center (Center) is made up of two adjoining-interconnected buildings, The Mother Lode Theatre and The Masonic Temple.  While each structure is technically a separate facility, both structures are fully interconnected.

Together, these facilities combine to provide the following business meeting and conference facilities:

  • Conference-presentation auditorium able to handle up to 1,252 attendees, plus over 50 presenters.
  • Large meeting room and/or ballroom 84’ x 57’, with integrated presentation stage, kitchen and bathrooms.
  • 4 smaller meeting, presentation and/or break out rooms, including one configured as a boardroom.
  • Staging and presentation preparation spaces.

The Butte Center for the Performing Arts Building houses the Mother Lode and Orphan Girl Theatres.  The building includes a large entrance lobby area, suitable for staging registration services, receptions, cocktail parties and the like.  The main auditorium, which houses the Mother Lode, is the main large conference center area, able to house meetings of up to 1,252 attendees.  While the auditorium is large, its design allows for much smaller conferences on the main floor area, ranging in size from 100 to 303 attendees, all without conference participants feeling like they are sitting in the middle of a stadium.  This unique design provides for 303 seats on the main floor, 370 on the mezzanine level, 182 on the front balcony and 347 on the rear balcony.  Space is available for an additional 50 temporary seats in the auditorium, if needed.

The auditorium, stage, orchestra pit and all support areas represent a first class conference-presentation facility, that by itself would cost in excess of 30-million dollars to construct today.  The facilities comprising the theatre have undergone more than 4-million dollars of renovation in recent years.  This conference-presentation facility is currently state-of-the-art in terms of its physical infrastructure, staging, and support areas.  The conference-presentation facility specifications include:
