PROJECT GOALS

Our first and most significant goal for this project is to develop a competitive first class business meeting and conference center for our community.
As a competitive facility, provide a complete range of facilities, amenities, technology, and support services needed now and in the future by our perspective clients.
Develop a partnership with the hospitality industry, the local and regional business community, local government, business, and economic development organizations, and the like, in order to market this business meeting and conference center and our community, in order to attract business meetings and conferences to Butte.
Develop an ongoing and increasing revenue stream for the Butte Center for the Performing Arts, Inc., and Masonic Temple Association, in order that the magnificent buildings operated by these two organizations, can continue to be operated, and can undergo continued restoration and upgrading, to insure their continued service to and place in our community.

Project Overview | Consolidated Facilities Renovation Status |
Updated, June 25, 2006

  • Mother Lode Theatre Renovation:  In excess of 3-million dollars has been spent over the past several years on the renovation and rejuvenation of the Mother Lode Theatre building.  The most recent facility upgrade includes the installation of a modern-efficient environmental control system.  The many upgrade and renovation projects at the Mother Lode Theatre have restored the facility to a first class performing arts center and has helped make it ready to also function as a high quality business meeting and conference center.

  • Advanced Telecommunications Site:  Advanced Wireless Technologies, Inc. (AWTI) has worked for the past five months developing and implementing Phases 1 and 2 of the Technology Plan, and is now embarking on Phase 3.  As part of this process, AWTI has installed a high quality digital microwave system capable of operating symmetrically at up to 20 mbps and terminating at AWTI’s Butte Data Center on Front Street .  The interconnection to the Butte Data Center provides for the connection to national and international IP backbone connectivity, with less than 4-milliseconds of latency between the Original Heritage Center and Tier 1 network connectivity.  The digital microwave connectivity to the Butte Data Center can be upgraded to 100 mbps with ease, as needed.  In addition, high speed wireless head-end systems have now been installed atop the Mother Lode building to link the Center with its hospitality partners through out the area, allowing those hospitality partners access to advanced IP network facilities heretofore not available in the region.

  • Masonic Temple Renovation :  The facilities being made available by the Masonic Temple Association to this project are in need of limited upgrade and/or renovation, including:

    • All common and entrance areas require updating, painting, some restoration work, lighting, flooring and the like.

    • Meeting rooms typically will need light modernization, new lighting, drop ceilings, flooring, etc.

    • Restrooms require modernization, restoration and/or substantial updating.

    • An additional restroom is needed on the first floor adjacent to meeting/breakout room areas.

    • Kitchen facilities designed to service the large meeting/ballroom area are in need of significant updating and improvement.

    • Interconnecting common areas between the Masonic Temple and the Mother Lode Theatre also require some upgrade, modern lighting and flooring or carpet replacement.

    • Some electrical system upgrades will also be required in this building, including additional emergency lighting, exit lighting, exit sign lighting, and the like.
